Saber Interactive are the game developers behind the upcoming Jurassic Park: Survival game. They’re owned by Embracer Group and have a large list of their own subsidiary companies. According to their website they have over 2,500 employees worldwide spread over their various development studios.
Originally when hearing that Saber Interactive was behind the project, the name didn’t ring a bell. However as I looked into their portfolio I found that they’re actually behind some pretty popular titles. In this post, I want to focus on games they’ve specifically developed and won’t dive into the even larger list of games they’ve published over the years. I’m also going to focus on the more recent releases, generally speaking.
Remasters and Ports
Saber Interactive seems to work with other game developers to make remasters of games and ports for games. They were behind the anniversary editions of Halo and Halo 2 which speaks volumes to me, a lifelong fan of the Halo franchise. They were also behind the console port of Gloomhaven and did the Nintendo Switch ports for Vampyr and The Witcher 3.
Sports Games

In recent years, they’ve developed several sports games that put a unique spin on the sports genre instead of trying to directly compete with the likes of EA Sports. One of their subsidiary studios developed NBA Playgrounds with Saber Interactive taking on the sequel - this seems to be somewhat of a trend with Saber and their subsidiaries. Both of these titles are highly rated on Steam. This year they also launched Wild Card Football which launched to mixed reviews.
World War Z

Here’s another instance of Saber Interactive taking the reins when it comes to “sequel” releases in a franchise. The original game launched in 2019 but was developed by their Saint Petersburg studio. In 2020 Saber Interactive started working on the DLC for the original game. In 2021 they released a major expansion for the game titled World War Z: Aftermath.
Offroad Simulation Games

Saber Interactive developed Mudrunner and Snowrunner, and they’re currently working on another sequel in this franchise. Both Mudrunner and Snowrunner are highly rated games that have seen a lot of continued support through DLC.
Final Thoughts
After this exploration into the history of Saber Interactive, I’m feeling confident that the future of the Jurassic Park franchise is in good hands. While not all the games they’ve made have been highly rated, the do have a good track record overall. Adding to that is the fact that larger developers continue to work with them on ports and remasters which is quite encouraging too. Jurassic Park Survival will be quite different from the other games in their portfolio though so that will be something for us fans to keep in mind.
