A new trademark was recently filed for a game called Jurassic World Primal Ops. The trademark filing is very vague so this could be yet another mobile game, but there is the possibility that this is a PC or console game. Could we finally get a survival game set in the Jurassic Park/World universe? I’m personally holding out hope but Trespasser is still by far my favorite Jurassic game. Jurassic Park: Survivor looked promising at the time and there were rumors of Jurassic World: Survivor but both of those projects never saw the light of day beyond some early screenshots.
There is a ray of hope though for Primal Ops possibly being a survival game, and that draws back to the development leak for Frontier developments dating back to 2019. So far the information in that leak has been very accurate, predicting both the 1993 DLC for JW Evolution and the release of JW Evolution 2. Evolution 2 was not the only Jurassic World game in the leaked list – It also included a game labeled Jurassic World Survival. This is a stretch but could Primal Ops be the official name for the Jurassic World Survival game in that leaked report?
While Evolution may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Frontier has done a good job of listening to the community, with Evolution 2 delivering some of the biggest fan requests such as aquatic creatures! In my opinion they have been good stewards of the license. It’s important to keep in mind that this is all just theory based upon past rumors – it’s just as likely that this is another mobile game.
When could we learn more about Primal Ops?
The trademark was just filed on August 23rd, so it is likely that we won’t see or hear much about Primal Ops until next year. In comparison, the trademark for Aftermath was filed on April 10th but we didn’t get an official reveal until September 16th and it released on December 17, 2020. Following along a similar timeline, we could see Primal Ops releasing alongside Dominion next year.
